General
The general opinion of Fan Trek Productions is that anyone must have a possibility to contribute to the project. Therefore, we’ve got some possibilities for you.
Join the project actively
Since we have a lot of staff members, and cannot use people at all fronts anymore, we’re bound to make a selection of people. If you are older than eighteen years old and have some experience, you’ve got a good chance you will be selected. Many people underestimate the time it costs to develop a series or film. Please consider your own time. We’re all volunteers, and doing it as a hobby. If you participate, we expect you to do what you promise us. If you’ve got the right spirit, please look for a task description in the section below, and send an email to Robin{adt}DarkArmada{dodt}NL . We will contact you within a week by mail. We are hoping to see you as an active staff member soon!
You can join the following teams:
Actors
We only accept actors from the Benelux and western Germany, who are willing to travel at any location within the triangle Utrecht, Den Haag and Eindhoven. If you live outside the Benelux and want to help, we can offer you a small role which can be recorded in a day.
If you are a teacher, we can visit your school and tell your students about how the green screen process take place. The only thing we ask from you is we may use your students as extras on the show, and you’re in the Netherlands. We can’t go around the world for this. We’ve a full cast for Nightfall. At this moment, only people of an age of 18 and above can subscribe to act in one of our next episodes.
Writers
We need people to write the episodes. The writers start with a story suggestion, after which an IN-OUT script will be made. The last task the writers will do is transform this into a script. You don’t have to know how to make an IN-OUT script, since we will provide you with the knowledge. You should be able to write dialogues in clear English, and be ready to work in a team. Writing takes more time than you would think at first sight. Be aware of this before you sign up. We don’t require any writers at this moment, considering the size of our current writers staff.
Story Boarders
The storyboarders will transform the scripts and IN-OUT scrips from the writers into a storyboard. You should be able to handle a pencil, and have some basic knowledge about making a film. Since storyboarding costs a lot of time, this will be done in a team. You must be able to work inside a team. At this moment, we don’t require any more help on the storyboards.
3D-modellers
The 3D-modelers will make the model of the interiors and space scenes. You should have the computer program 3D studio Max version 5 or higher to become a modeler for us. Also is some experience required, since will want to keep the quality somewhat high. There are stills some models for Nightfall to be done. Because of the experience one needs to make a nice model, we only accept people of an age of 16 or older.
3D-animators
The 3D-animators will transform the models made by the 3D-modelers in animations. Often, the people who are modelers also take a position as animator. For animators, experience is less required than for modelers. As a 3D-animator, you should be in the possession of Autodesk’s 3D Studio Max version 8, so you can open any model made by the modelers. There are stills some models for Nightfall to be done. We need some people to make our spacescenes with the models which are already made. Like the modellers, you should be at least 16.
Sound Effects
As the title suggests, this position requires you to make sound effects for the series. We can use a little help with the sound effects. Minimum age: 18.
Costumes
We still can use some help to make all costumes for the actors. As being of the costume department, you will help us by making the costumes for the series. We hope you are willing to visit (nearby) actors sometimes, so the costumes are be made at the right size. For practical reasons, we only accept people from the Netherlands, Belgium and western Germany. We already have made all our costumes for Nightfall. If you are at least 18, live in the Netherlands or Belgium and want to help us out in next episodes, you can contact us.
Externals
An external is someone who is formally not in any team, but do help us for some time by providing us by materials as cameras, programs, props etc. We’re not looking for anyone in particular, but please let us know if you can help us with something!
Sets
We do not use sets. If you have a room we can build sets in for a longer period of time, and can help us build them, you can contact us. Only in The Netherlands, pref. Zuid-Holland.
Props
We do not require any more people in the props department. All props are already made for Nightfall.
Something Else
Do you know something else by which you can help? Please contact us! We’re always looking for people who have contacts or are in a drama school (in the Netherlands) who are willing to provide us with actors or technical crew.
Exchange Links and Banners
If you’re participating in a fan film project yourself, and want to exchange banners or site links, we’re willing to help. We might make a selection to filter out sites of which we suspect they won’t hold on that long. If you’re starting up a new site, consider to add yourself to the www.fanfilmwiki.org

If you want us to show a banner of yours, we’re willing to do so. We only accept landscaped banners, which means they are wider than high. If we put a banner of you online, we expect you to show a banner of us somewhere at your site.

Donate
If you want to help us, but not actively, you might want to donate so we can use it to buy materials from, such as computer programs, props and costumes to name a few. Making a film costs more than you might expect, so we can use all help we need. We guarantee all money send to us will be used for the project and for nothing else than the project. We do not make any profit, and don’t want to. It is just a hobby.
Before you donate, keep the following ‘rules’ in mind:
- You know we are not Paramount Pictures or part of them. We do not own Star Trek or its characters. We are some fans who like Star Trek that much it inspired us to make our own fan based series. We do not work for Paramount Pictures.
- You accept all money will used for the project and for nothing else than the project.
- You do not expect anything from us. We’re all volunteers and personal reasons may result in canceling the project. Of course we don’t expect it, and don’t want to think of cancellation.
- By donating you will not became an owner of anything.
- You accept we will decide on what the money is spend as long as it goes into the project.
- You accept we follow Ferengi rule of acquisition 1: Once the money is in our pocket, you won’t get it back. We need to know what we can spend at any time.
- You know we’re based in the Netherlands and operate under Dutch law (so please don’t come to us with USA law, it just don’t apply for us).
- We won’t be responsible for any loss of data in case of computer crashes or as an result of hackers.
- You accept our thanks for contributing for the project.
If you donate more than 100,00 euro, we would like to mention you in our thanks list on the upcoming episode. We will contact you for this. Of course, you might donate anything you want. To make things clear: A donor will not get anything more from us than any other person besides being mentioned in the end credits reel.
